Pope Benedict XVI sent his first tweet using his official Twitter account (@Pontifex) this Wednesday, December 12, 2012, in front of a huge crowd of Catholics in Rome, as shown in the video below. The Pope tweets using eight Twitter accounts with different languages, including English, Spanish, and Italian.
"Dear friends, I am pleased to get in touch with you through Twitter. Thank you for your generous response. I bless all of you from my heart." The Pope wrote on his first tweet, at around 5:30 a.m. ET that day, at the Pope Paul VI Hall, and was joined on stage by top prelates and five chosen youths from across the globe.
